General info about PLP (what the PLP means and why it can be useful)

“A Personal Learning Plan is a way to record your personal and professional developmental goals and the means by which you are going to achieve them.

We strongly recommend that you set your Personal Learning Plan when you start using L-Pack2 learning materials, because:

- it allows you to have a clear vision of your present language competences and the competences that our course can help you to reach

- it helps you to decide what exactly you should do in order to bring your competences to a higher level

- after a certain period of time it permits you to compare the competences you had in the beginning with the competences you have obtained

- it allows you to set up new objectives

“Below you will find a table with the list of linguistic competences that the L-Pack2 course can help you to obtain. You should fill in columns 2, 3 and 4, replying to the questions in the heading of each column.

Step 1

Please decide on a time period for your Personal Learning Plan and write it on the first line of the table in the appropriate space. We recommend that you choose a short time period to begin with, for example, 3 months.

Step 2

Fill in column 2 for each single competence. Be honest and select among the available options the one that best describes your actual level of language learning.

Step 3

Now fill in column 3 for each competence. Try to define the level you would like to reach in the period decided on in Step 1 and then select (among what is available) an option that corresponds best to your wishes. Be sensible! Evaluate carefully the time in your disposal that you can dedicate to learning; don’t try to fix too high a level of competences to reach.

Step 4

Finally, fill in column 4 for each competence. We offer a list of activities to choose from but you can also add your own options: be creative!

Step 5

Leave the last column empty. Save the table in your Personal Space. We also recommend that you print it as a reminder of the activities to be completed and to reference when needed.

Step 6

At the end of the learning period that you set in Step 1, return to your Personal Space and fill in the last column.

Then:

-  compare the data in the 2nd and the 5th columns. Do you notice any difference between your initial and actual competence level?

- compare the data in the 3rd and the 5th columns. Do you notice any difference between your desired competence level and your actual level? If yes, continue in this way. If not, try to find out what impeded your learning process. Did you follow the learning plan carefully? Did you dedicate enough time to the lessons?

- Update your Personal Learning Plan, starting again from Step 1.”
